Goodreads Indonesia Celebrates World Read Aloud Day 2014

Greetings,

Sunday, 2 March 2014 is a very special day. Amongst hundreds of Jakarta citizens flocking the Jakarta's Car Free Day around Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, a group of people wore "World Read Aloud Day" posters on them. These are Goodreads Indonesia members, with their bright red tees of 'Baca Itu Seru' (Reading is Fun) written on it, walking around the CFD area sharing words loudly and proudly.

This is our second participations in the World Read Aloud Day, which is celebrated on 5 March this year around the world. In this year Goodreads Indonesia proudly participate as the @litworldsays's partner celebrating their annual event in promoting reading culture around the world.

A week prior the Day, Goodreads Indonesia through our partner @rumahdongeng conducted #ReadAloud Week as each participants who sent their photos of reading aloud via twitter is donating 1 book for chosen Preschool (check photos here).

On Saturday, 1 March 2014 Goodreads Indonesia's Broadcast Club #ReadAloud "How Camel Got His Hump" by Rudyard Kipling live at the Radio Pelita Kasih 96.3FM. [Recorded broadcast here: http://chirb.it/3DBNe8]

The D-Day, 2 March 2014, we conducted the book marathon and book donations for @bukuntukpapua at the Jakarta's Car Free Day event. Why Book Marathon? Goodreads Indonesia eager to promote and spread out the power of words to other people by reading aloud one person to the next person. By reading the stories loudly, each person can then spread out the power of words to the other person and initiating a change, to the person who listen, then to change the world eventually. Just imagine we spread the power of words to one person, then he or she spreads them to the other person and so on, how many people have listen and sharing the power of words? The Book Marathon also brings a joy and togetherness whilst reading books loudly.

Goodreads Indonesia members not just celebrating the World Read Aloud Day in Jakarta, but also in Medan and Malang. We may celebrate in different ways but always with the same goals: to share the power of words.

Happy World Read Aloud Day, let's celebrate the power of words.
Read aloud. Change the world.

Share the words, keep reading as Reading is Fun

warm regards,
Goodreads Indonesia
